In this link I explain how to fix the multi monitor problem in Ubuntu 11.04 especially when you upgrade it from Ubuntu 10.10 and you have 1280 x 800 resolution of the first monitor. The problem is your second monitor is blank or blinking in dark color and in the first monitor you just see your wallpaper and your cursor.
